Uruguay's education system has always been at the forefront. In Uruguay, any citizen can have a university degree without the need to pay for studying.

It was also the first country in the world to complete the "One Laptop per Child" program and is the leader in all connectivity and communications rankings in Latin America.

Education is compulsory for ages 4 to 15 and is divided into at least 4 levels: early childhood, primary (6 years), secondary (6 years) and university education.
